Nothing looks worse than a well-maintained women with chewed up finger nails or badly ignored toe nails. Though you may not wish for long, painted talons, yet, it is important to round off your polished image with nails that are healthy and well-kept.

The best way to keep nails and fingers moisturized and healthy is by rubbing in olive oil twice a day. Dryness is the main culprit behind brittle and frayed nails, therefore, it is essential that they should be kept moisturized, with special attention paid to the sides and cuticles which tend to dry out first.
Nail Healing With Honey
For those who bite their nails and finger skin leading to cuts and sores on the fingers, best thing for you is to soak your finger tips in honey. For easier dipping, warm the honey first and then soak your nails for in it for 15 to 20 minutes. Do so before bed time and, in case your nails and finger tips are badly cut, coat with honey, put on some gloves and go off to sleep. The anti-bacterial properties of honey will kill all bacteria and prevent the cuts from getting infected.
Treat Cracked and Brittle Nails with Sesame Oil
Both Ayurvedic and Chinese traditions of health and beauty believe in effectiveness of Sesame oil for maintaining healthy nails. For treating brittle and cracked nails, simply heat some sesame oil on low heat until warm, soak nails for 15 to 20 minutes. Give your nails some time to breathe and rest after the treatment to ensure they do not break from being too soft. A regular regimen of sesame oil for damaged nails will not only strengthen, but will revitalize them, as well.
Nails Should Be Allowed To Breathe
Like skin, nails also need to breathe to keep healthy. Keep them free of nail varnish and acrylics or silk nail extension for at least a month. It will take longer, as much as three months for severely damaged nails to restore their shine and natural beauty.
Once your nails are back to being healthy, give them regular manicures and pedicures. File, buff, soak and then apply a nail varnish that is gentle on the nails and will not dry them out. If, you must remember to use only quality brands of nail varnish and don’t forget to put on rubber gloves when doing the dishes. Everyone will wish to have healthy, beautiful nails like you.
