NOTD: Marine Stripes

Very cute and quick marine nails.
I saw this in a magazine and absolutely had to try it.
I really love the marine theme on my nails or my clothes.

NOTD: Banana Candy

At first I wanted to do a tutorial for this nail art but it's so easy that I don't think is needed.
I used LAYLA 101 for the base and added some dots using KIKO 290, 295 and 296.
I took inspiration from the "lemon nails" in the latest issue of Nail Up.

Tutorial # 009: Yellow Summer-in

This is a very summer-ish nail art. Its really easy and quick to do!
On the thumbs there are cute ice creams!!

What you need: a sponge ( I used the ones used for eyeshadow), a thin brush, nail polish drops. [See this nail art for how to make nail polish drops]

Colors:

Smalti

  • Base Coat: Debby nail THERAPY smoothing base + minerals
  • White: KIKO No: 101
  • Yellow: RIVEEL No. 190
  • Light Blue: KIKO No. 159
  • Orange: KIKO No. 112
  • Brown: STARSTYLE No: 17
  • Gold: Deborah Shine TECH No: 21
  • Dark Brown: COLLISTAR No: 42 MELANZANA GLITTER
  • Top Coat: Deborah 7 Days Long No.00

How to:

  1. 02b Apply your base coat.
  2. 03b Apply two coat of white polish.
  3. 04b With the the sponge make some lines alternating the two colors.
  4. 05b Add a line in the white part using the brush.
  5. 06b On the thumb make an ice cream. First using the brush, draw a brown triangle, on a side use the gold polish and on the other side use the dark brown to make a few lines to give the ice cream a 3D effect. When dry use the drop of polish to make the upper part of the ice cream.

Tutorial #004: Cherries & Dots

These nails give off a very summer feeling, but I have to say that I wasn't really satisfied with the result.

I have to practice more with the dots.

What you need: a thin brush, some nail polish drops. Doing this drops is really easy. Take a piece of plexiglass and let a drop of nail polish fall. Wait 24 hours to be sure that it's completely dry. I've made a few to be sure to have at least two of the same size.

Colors:

Smalti
  • Base Coat: Broadway Nail Care No. 04
  • White: KIKO No. 101
  • Red: RIMMEL Lycra PRO No. 323 RIVIERA RED
  • Dark Green: basic No. 149
  • Top Coat: Deborah 7 Days Long No.00

How to:
  1. 02b Put on your base coat.
  2. 03b Apply a coat of white polish. Put on a 2nd coat if needed.
  3. 04b On the ring finger apply a round-shaped stiker (the ones used for the french manicure are suitable too) and then apply a coat of red polish.
  4. 05b When the red is perfectly dry, start making some dots with the white polish. There are different ways to make dots. You can use an old pen, a toothpick or a thin brush. I tried all these methods and I find myself more comfortable with the brush.
  5. 06b On all the other nails I made a red french with white dots. On the thumb I applied the nail polish drops that I made the day before. I choose two different sizes for the cherries.
  6. 07b With the thin brush and the green nail polish I draw the leaves of the cherries. When dry, apply your top coat.

  • Light Blue: KIKO No. 159
  • Light Green: RIVEEL No. 121
  • Yellow: RIVEEL No. 190
  • Orange: KIKO No. 112
  • Pink: Broadway Extra Color No. 03
  • Top Coat: Deborah 7 Days Long No.00

How to:

  1. 02b Put on your base coat.
  2. 03b Apply a first coat of nail polish.
  3. 03c Choose a different color for each finger.
  4. 04b Apply a 2nd coat and then, before it dries, let the glitter fall all over the nail polish. Be sure to cover all the surface.
  5. 05b With your fingertip press ligtly on the glitter to make it adhere at the nail polish.
  6. 05c Do the same steps for all the fingers, wait for them to dry and then wash your hands with COLD water. Apply your top coat.

Here is the final result. When fully dry is really hard, in fact it takes a lot of effort to remove it. Personally I think it will be good for who have really weak nails.

You can also do this on your feet. I don't usually spend to much time decorating the nails of my feet, but this is a fast end easy way to have feet that attract attention.

This are my sister's feet. She changed the pink polish whit a white one, but the effect is still good.

This are my feet. I used the same colors I used for my hands. After the base coat and two coat of color, I applied a polish with silver glitter where I added a few extra fine glitter for make it more sparkling. At the end I put on also some rhinestones, a clear one and two pink (but these last two don't stand out to much!).
